The Soul Seat is for those of you who long to sit cross-legged at your desk. Or in a half-kneeling position. Or with one leg tucked underneath you. Or like you're using a Squatty Potty at your desk. In other words, the Soul Seat is for all 11 of you out there.

Am I wrong? Is there a critical mass of people who want sitting in a chair to feel like sitting on the floor? Who eschew back and armrests when searching for the perfect seating option? I guess Soul Seat maker Ikaria Design Company must think so, or the Missouri-based builder wouldn't have grown their business around it. Or perhaps, given what they're charging for their human roosts, they only need to sell 11 to make it worth it.

Joking aside, Soul Seat creator Pack Matthews developed the chair as an alternative for people who want to stay active and shift between different sitting positions while they work. The Soul Seat platform and perch combo facilitates this without sacrificing body alignment and ergonomics. Crafted with input from a physical therapist, yoga instructors, fine woodworkers, and industrial engineers, the Soul Seat looks a little like an Alexia Meditation Seat, with more options for adjustment. Both the platform and perch raise and lower independently.

Soul Seats come in original and bamboo versions. The former rolls on 5 caster wheels, and has full swiveling capabilities, while the bamboo soul seat is completely stationary, but can adjust higher to use at a drafting table or bar.
