Alchemix hopes to shake up the shaker scene amongst mixologists and enthusiastic cocktail imbib-ologists alike with their Kickstarter campaign for a drank maker that infuses and/or carbonates your liquor and mixers in just about 2 minutes. The Alchemix device looks similar to a cocktail shaker, but swaps the standard strainer lid for one with a built-in mini science lab that can both rapidly infuse ingredients that may otherwise be hard to muddle into booze, and add carbonation.
Alchemix employs single-use food-safe N2O gas cartridges to infuse and CO2 cartridges to carbonate. After adding your ingredients to the container and screwing on the strainer and valve pieces, slide one or the other cartridge into the shaker's lid and add the top cap - gently - to puncture the cartridge and release the gas into the Alchemix chamber. Shake gently to distribute, and then let the mixture rest for 2 minutes. Pour and strain as usual. Each full fill of the Alchemix makes about 4 cocktail infusions, or 1 carbonated drink.
Some Alchemix infusion ideas include a cinnamon stick-infused rye Manhattan, a lavender-infused gin gimlet, or smoked whiskey (via charred oak chips.) And get CO2 fizzy with your margaritas and old fashioneds. And Pinot Noir to impress the ladies with black bubbles.
Alchemix seeks crowdfunding on Kickstarter through June 14, 2017.
