Country Archer makes meat snacks for those of us who are done with dry, brittle jerky that tastes like nothing but fake smoke and salt, and feels like it's going to puncture our gut when we swallow it. And also for those of us who immediately think, "Bacon!" when someone says, "Meat snack," but find it difficult to carry strips of snack-ready bacon around in our pockets.
Country Archer makes small-batch, grass-fed beef jerky and antibiotic-free turkey jerky in flavors such as Mango Habanero, Sweet Jalapeno, and Honey Dijon. Having sampled approximately 6 bags myself, I can attest that they are moist and chewy, and actually taste like Mango Habanero, Sweet Jalapeno, and Honey Dijon.
But I think Country Archer's real stars are its Frontier Bars, bricks of meaty satiety that, unlike extra crispy hickory-smoked bacon, slip easily into my back pocket for munching after the gym, or while I wait 3 hours for some Franklin's BBQ in Austin. Frontier Bars also come in several lip-smacking flavors, as well as a lip-smacking pork-based version they don't make in their jerky line.
The bars are high in protein at 20 grams and low in calories at 110 to 140. Country Archer calls them "Paleo-ish" because, while they are grain-free, they do contain 1 to 3 grams of sugar.
