Sneaks and flip-flops: my life for the next 3 months. I love summer. Especially this part of it, the very beginning leading up to the Solstice. It's sunny. It's warm. It's light at 5 a.m. It's light at 9 p.m. And everyone's in a good mood. Like my girlfriend, who's willing to do...stuff...she normally sighs and scoffs at. (Hiking and kayaking! I'm talking about hiking and kayaking!)
Astral sent me a pair of their Brewer sneakers a few days ago. They call the shoes their "signature model," and I can already tell they're going to be a "signature fixture" on my feet this season. Even better, I got the red, white & blue Murica color, and the Brewers have a super sticky, sailing-ready GRubber outsole and hydrophobic canvas up top, so I can wear them on my friend Esteban's sloop, Thor, this 4th of July.
While Brewers are casually stylish enough to pair with Polos and chino shorts, their design is also utilitarian for outdoor activities. In addition to superior traction and quick draining / drying properties, the sneakers have a lightweight and super-flexible Lilo construction, as well as a balanced geometry midsole made of EVA foam. They're suitable for use on the water, on the trail, and during travel.
Astral makes the Brewer in 5 different color combinations and men's whole and half sizes 7 to 13.
