It's a paperweight. With a top inside. That might give you some pretty trippy dreams starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Use the paperweight element of J.L. Lawson & Co.'s design to squash your flyaway papers under 14.6 ounces of manually machined solid brass. Or take the base's top--in this case an actual top--off and pass the time waiting for lunch/the end of the day/the hot new summer intern to walk by your office in jeggings screwing around with your 1-1/4" diameter spin toy.
J.L. Lawson & Co. crafts all of its metal goods by hand in Joshua Tree, CA. The paperweight-top piece is part of a limited edition of 15. Tops can sit either right side up or upside down in the base. How is it that upside got to be its own word, but right side has to stay split apart? The top's tip is made of tungsten carbide.
