Rabbit with Long Ear is by far the most profound book I've read...ever. In 0 words and less than 5 seconds it provides a stirring and stark look into the life of a creature cursed with inordinately long lobes who refuses to let his freakish appearance box him in. Instead, he uses those ears to yank down his glass ceiling and ascend into a world filled with understanding and acceptance and also millions of other creatures with Dumbo ears.

Additional captivating titles in this Japanese flipbook series from Mou Hitotsu no Kenkyujo include God of Bug Eater, Visitor of Hole, Beetles, and Merry Christmas. Like many flipbooks, these thick and thumb-friendly pages achieve their animation effects through the calculated use of negative space and drawing the same thing over and over. Mou Hitotsu no Kenkyujo also incorporates nifty cutouts and props to add depth and even more jollies to the flipping process. And in all seriousness, these volumes are truly creative bonanzas and swell works of art.
