Diagonal Dwelling

Like the lightning bolt aesthetic, but want something a little more serene than the hustle and bustle of Diagon Alley? Check out NYDE design studio's Diagonal Dwelling, a trippy architectural feat originally designed as a "small sanctuary" in the Scottish Highlands.

In addition to being a visual stunner, the Diagonal Dwelling is also a sustainable, off-grid-ready build. For example, its striking 55-degree "arm" serves as an ideal base for solar panels, and its (presumably structurally stable) zig-zag design allows the Diagonal Dwelling to offer 3 levels of living and sweeping views, without consuming much of a ground footprint, or resorting to an uninspired, stacked-level configuration.

Diagonal Dwelling features include:

  • A "floating" bed
  • A scenic second-level hot tub off the bedroom
  • An elevated terrace
  • A compact kitchenette
  • A living area with daybed and fireplace.

Despite its seeming complexity, the Diagonal Dwelling is a prefab unit in design and construction. It can be factory-made within 20 weeks, and assembled onsite anywhere you've got a plot in less than 10 days.
