About Umberto Luce Footwear

Umberto Luce makes fancy man shoes, boots, and sneakers that somehow avert the designation fancyman shoes, boots, and sneakers. All are handmade to order and production quantities are kept low, so you can rest assured that when you show up to New Year's Eve in a pair of Tan Kaan Laces, your friend Cornelius won't be stealing your thunder flailing around on the dane floor in them too (only his would be a size 14EE because that dude has Sasquatch feet). Based out of Leon, Guanajuato in Mexico Umberto Luce is a strong fair trade supporter, and the company buys all of its materials from local producers, including the bovine leather all of their footwear outers and interior linings are made from.

One of my personal favorites from Umberto Luce are their Peepems. These motorcycle boots combine 100% vegetable-tanned cowhide on the outside with a 100% bovine interior lining, and a throwback riding design that makes me kind of wish I were as simultaneously refined and rugged as the men the boots were intended for. You know, as opposed to about average and unable to light a fire from anything but a Duraflame log and a long-reach butane lighter.

The sneaker obsessed might prefer the yellow stitching and two-toned leather striping of the Aaks, while more traditional dudes can keep it simple, but still standout, with a pair of Baalam Lace Ups in Black, Blue, Brown, or Red. Umberto Luce sizes generally range from US Men's 7-1/2 to 12, and each shoe, boot, and sneaker style typically comes in a choice of colors / treatments (e.g., handpainted and sandblasted finishes).
