Seasonal Affective Disorder. If you get it, get ready to get it. The cold's rolling in, the dark's bearing down, and the overwhelming desire to turn in with the grizzly bears for the next 6 months is taking over. For those who don't have the luxury of casting aside their financial and familial responsibilities in favor of hibernation--but do have approximately $75 US dollars--Seqinetic Sunglasses may be your next best option. Formerly a successful Kickstarter project, the Danish-designed, LED-lit method of combatting the winter blues is now in full manufacture and available for purchase.

In short, Seqinetic Sunglasses provide a light source that mimics the sun's rays and bounces a soft, white, mood-boosting "daylight" around users' eyes without shining the light directly into or damaging them. The glasses incorporate 6 LED bulbs and a reflector, and operate via two AAA batteries. Light output is harmless, 100% UV-free, and, creators Soren, Christian, and Lasse promise, unencumbering. Reading, using a computer, and going about your daily business--albeit with some curious looks from others--can all be done while wearing a pair of Seqinetics. Apparently, they also fit "almost anyone with one nose and two ears." So hopefully rugby players and Evander Holyfield don't suffer from seasonal depression.

To experience its energizing, happy pill effects, Seqinetics makers recommend wearing the glasses for up to 30 minutes per day. During that time, they will deliver 2,500 lux of light from a 1.6" x 1.2" reflector area situated approximately 2" above the eye--the equivalent of sitting 31" from a square light source of 10,000 lux, measuring 16" x 24".
