Few of us will ever have the opportunity to swim for Olympic Gold, and even fewer the opportunity to turn into a dolphin*. But we can still get stronger underwater. Build better form. Improve our strokes. And dream. The Foil Monofin from Finis secures both feet inside a single flipper, locking the legs together, and forcing swimmers to use their entire bodies while moving through the water.
The Foil Monofin was named after the Foil Body Motion method, developed by swim coach Bob Gillett. By joining the feet merperson-style and expanding the fin's surface area, a wearer will be able to use, and work, his or her leg and core muscles much more than with 2 separate fins. The effect will produce "a powerful and undulating dolphin kick through the water."
FINIS makes Foil Monofins in sizes XS through XL for those with men's shoe sizes ranging from 3 to 5 (XS) to 13-1/2 to 15 (XL).
*But if you've seen the whacked-out Colin Farrell movie The Lobster, you know it's not entirely out of the question.
