Medieval knight helmets. That's what hip nanas who know what it means to give their grandsons street cred crochet. Now I don't know if Dee Forrest is a grandma, but she's definitely privy to what the cool kids these days are looking for in their yarn-based accessories. Wearing her hand-crocheted hat with button-on, movable face warmer will leave no doubt that a distinguished man of valor and chivalry--one who respects his elders--has entered the room. It also won't set you back $218 like the Medieval Knight Hoodie. Though it's probably slightly itchier and, despite being loop-de-looped from washable acrylic yarn, may give you a face rash.
Crocheted Knight Helmets come in standard adult/teen circumference sizes of 20-1/2" to 22-1/2". Watermelon and Alec Baldwin heads that require size increases should let Forrest know upon order.
And if you want to prepare your infant for a life of chain mail and jousting, check out Forrest's Crocheted Knight Helmet & Bootie set ($40).
December 2012 Update: Dudes, there is now a months-long wait list for Forrest's crocheted knight headwear, but if you shop around Etsy you'll find several other crafty vendors are also making and selling them, seemingly with equal skill and valor. For example:
- Rebecca of Fresh Off Thee Hook
- Joni Memmott of Briabby Hats
- Beckie of thingsihavemade
