Who's going somewhere awesome this summer? South America? Lollapalooza? The weekend cabin? Your friend Cornelius' friend Donnie's backyard swimmin' hole? If you're traveling, the best companion you can take is arguably a travel backpack (arguably because my girlfriend does not like the way the statement sounds otherwise.) This mid-size Farpoint 40 issue from Osprey is a good bet from a gear co that consistently produces highly durable, highly comfortable, and highly rated backpacks at a decent price point.

Osprey made the Farpoint 40 to "carry like the best backcountry backpack, without compromising the features needed for travel convenience." Its smooth, streamlined shape precludes snags and jingling, and a pair of hooks with included strap allow for luggage-style shoulder schlepping in addition to wearing like a traditional backpack.

The Farpoint 40 features a large front zip pocket with padded laptop and tablet sleeve, a large panel access to the main compartment, and internal compression straps for securing gear. Dimensions are 21" x 13" x 9", with 2 available torso sizes to promote a more perfect fit and maximal comfort during long periods of wear.
