Otium made a car rack that installs in 2 minutes, and then comes off again in even less. It also fits most any vehicle, from trailblazing trucks to suburb-cruising coupes. It's also as soft as a football in the arms of Tom Brady.
The Otium SoftRack is a removable, multi-purpose car rack designed to haul all of your favorite gear and daddy-o tools from A to B without the hassle or permanent rooftop fixture status of traditional racks. SoftRacks consist of a pair of foam blocks covered in weatherproof canvas and 9 reinforced nylon loops with 10' of webbing strapping for securing items to the back. The bottom of the SoftRack is treated with RubberTek to protect vehicle roofs from scraping and damage. Total weight, including the system's carrying/storage bag: 4 pounds.
Each SoftRack block measures 44" x 3" x 4". Together they are capable of schlepping: ladders; lumber; kayaks and paddleboards; skis and snowboards; fishing equipment; surfing gear; sleds; and your mama. Really. The SoftRack would keep her snug as a bug in a rug.
Having reached its crowdfunding goal, the Otium SoftRack is available for pre-order, with shipment expected in June 2015.
