I like NOMAD's addition of a firestarter to their Survival Multitool, but am a little disappointed it's just a foldout manual metal rod, and not the click 'n' flame wand lighter it looks like. That the whole tool looks like, really. When I first saw the NOMAD multi I thought its twist on the bogged down EDC market was building all of its tool's tools into a miniature long handle push-button lighter. Then I thought maybe it would progress from there, that this would be a survival tool designed for people with no survival skills! The kind I really need!

But, no, NOMAD's creation is like all the others - intended for legit outdoorsmen. Accompanying the fire rod are a scraper, flashlight, compass, bottle opener, cutting blade, carabiner, split ring, screwdriver, and 1/4" bit adapter. All in a 5" long x 1.5" wide x 1/2" deep package.

In addition to its multi-functionality and eye-catching look, the NOMAD Survival Multitool is a hand-assembled piece made up of over 30 parts. All work is done in creator Alejandro Keossian's garage in California.
