Ahhh, summertime. Smells like freshly cut...margaritas. Thanks to the TailGator, a blender with cajones the size of a 25cc Poulan 2-stroke, 2 1/2 horsepower gas engine. It's not a new product--or the only one of its kind for those who have seen the Daiquiri Whacker--but with Father's Day looming, even though there's zero chance I'm dropping $300 on a gift, imagining Daddy-O yanking the starter pull and going blended-drink lawnmower man in the back yard is somehow brightening my otherwise dull Sunday morning. A momentary distraction from the gin-coated headache anyway....
Though most prominently marketed for use at tailgates, gas-powered blenders serve as handy party accessories, and attention-grabbing crowd pleasers, pretty much anywhere lacking electricity. Picnics, camping trips, beach parties, transcontinental flights. Surprisingly light at only 10 pounds, the TailGator also optionally comes with a shoulder strapped carrying case. Blender container capacity is 48 ounces, and blend time runs around 15 seconds to lump-free frozen cocktails. The engine fires 6,500 margaritas per gallon of fuel, and its fuel tank tops off at 11 ounces. Front mounted controls include a primer, choke, and kill switch, and the blender runs with infinitely variable RPM, throttle, and speed control.
