About Magic Billet Boxes

Eric Krusenstjerna's Magic Billet Boxes combine the hulk of solid, 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum with the intrigue of a discreet magnetic locking system. The 3-piece, 2" cubes surreptitiously store anything from birthday money from Grandma to lists of passwords to precious gems to nicely-sized buds. Check out the video on Magic Billet Box opening how-tos to see for yourself how slim of a chance any thief or weed enforcement official has of figuring out how to rip you off or bust you on a personal effect shrouded in MBB.

Or for those who prefer written opening instructions, here are Krusenstjerna's access tricks: First note that a hollow cube, an inner lid, and an outer lid comprise each Magic Billet Box. All 3 pieces are embedded with magnets for clever lid attachment and securement. Also, two different locking styles are available: open-on-contact and tap-to-open. To extract lids with the former style, slide off the top lid, flip it over, and reposition it to activate the inner lid's magnetic release. To open-on-contact, follow a similar procedure while holding the box in your hand, and then rap (with feeling!) on the edge of the top lid to active a built-in "release button". Note: The Mario boxes up for grabs here subscribe to the tap-to-open method.

Krusenstjerna CNC-machines and engraves each cubical wonder from his Eugene, OR workshop. And while I feel the Super Mario-themed trio is his piece de resistance (at least so far), it is only one of many in his collection. Krusenstjerna has created dozens of different styles of Magic Billet Boxes for those drawn to the nifty and inconspicuous to choose from. A Hyrulian-shielded Zelda Box ($85) and intricately textured Maze Box ($140) are both pretty swell too. Krusenstjerna will also accept requests for engraving and custom designs.
