About the Structure 3D Sensor

Mobile computer vision. Occipital believes it's our future, and they hope to pave the way with their newly-released Structure Sensor. The Structure sensor is a camera attachment for iPads that has 3D depth and the ability to capture accurate, all-dimensional measurements and models in a single click. In other words, it's both an instant-read tape measure for the entire living room you're about to redecorate and a next-generation device for photocopying your butt at work. And check out the video to see what Structure Sensors will bring to VR gaming devices like the Oculus Rift.

On a basic level the Structure 3D Sensor grasps and stores dense geometry; it envelops everything in view, all at once. Users can easily accomplish tasks of measuring, scanning and storing 3D objects (anything from priceless sculptures to the most beautiful plate of nachos you ever saw), and simulating real-world physics.

Structure Sensor brings further perks to iOS developers, hackers, and hobbyists. Its SDK supports app creation and then instant deployment in Xcode. Developers can even launch created apps immediately on the App Store. Structure also arrives with open source drivers compatible with multiple platforms and CAD specs for building custom brackets. Read more about the Structure SDK here.

Structure Sensors are compatible with iPad (4th gen), iPad Mini, and iPad Air.
