Ferrofluid represents the glorious union of science and beauty. Of visual art and tactile interaction. Of workplace boredom and sweet desktop toys. Click here and enter to win a set of 4 ferrofluid displays from Inspired Designs! A $320 value!

This giveaway is open to US residents only.

About Inspired Designs Ferrofluid

Inspired Designs head inspirer, Kyle Haines, created his ferrofluid displays out of the belief that ferrofluid is to the 2010s what lava lamps were to the 1960s--an artistic representation of the culture and mood of our time. He built The Inspiration, the largest of Inspired Designs' ferrofluid displays, as a sort of next-gen lava lamp. The 450 mL cylinder doubles as a motion lamp, containing 15 mL of ferrofluid you can either manipulate into spiky urchins yourself, or turn on to activate a lolling motion of blobs rising and falling on their own. The Inspiration includes neodymium magnets. Check out a GIF of its ferrofluid in action here.

In addition to The Inspiration our giveaway winner's ferrofluid set will also include the following Inspired Designs:

The Thinker. This 120 mL plastic display contains 3 mL of ferrofluid that is permanently magnetized around a bolt in the center. Use the included magnets to pull the contents in both directions and create a spinning "buzz saw" effect. The giveaway winner will receive 2 Thinkers, each upgraded with colored ferrofluid, one in blue and the other gold.

The Nano. A smaller version of The Thinker, The Nano also creates the "buzz saw" when in use. It is made of plastic and has a friction fit seal to keep the ferrofluid contents safe from inquisitive fingers that like to take things apart, and butter fingers that like to break them. The Nano is small enough to present to your girlfriend as a necklace, or keep in your pocket to pull out at parties and possibly wow and amaze yourself a new girlfriend. It includes one neodymium magnet.
