Bouncy bungee "workouts" are apparently a new fad in the fitness industry, and now, with a few screws and a high enough ceiling, you can get in on the cardio, core-building acrobaction at home. The 1UP Gravity Pro is just one of several bungee workout trainers now selling for individual consumer use.
If you take a look at the videos, it's pretty clear who these gravity-challenging springy cords are intended for: people who want to screw around for an hour and then say they've worked out. Like Zumba, but with a Cirque de Soleil / baby jumper bent.
Just kidding. I don't know what kind of a workout a bungee trainer provides. Enthusiasts say it can get your heart rate up like a treadmill with none of the impact, while building total body muscle strength at the same time. The 1UP Gravity Pro system comes with 4 elastic bungee bands, 2 neoprene straps, and 2 rubber grip handles that enable moves ranging from mock running to jumping squats and pushups to the "flying squirrel." That's bungee-ing from all fours to all four limbs spread wide in the air. And, admittedly, it looks semi-fun.
The 1UP Gravity Pro bungee workout trainer comes with its own workout routines, but makers say once you get the hang of not falling all over yourself and springing into the wall while harnessed up, you'll end up creating your own. You can also incorporate the bungee into existing fitness disciplines, including yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, and functional training workouts.
A home gym essential, probably not, but if you're bored with your existing workout, or always looking for a new form of fitness, the 1UP Gravity Pro is certainly unlike anything else out there.
