This App-Controlled Quadricopter is kind of like a high-def flight simulator, except when you crash and burn, the propellered apparatus you're flying gets destroyed in real life too. Meet the Parrot AR.Drone 2.0, powered and navigated via on-board WiFi and camera systems by iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and select Android smartphones.

While in flight, video footage from multiple chopper cameras beam to your smartphone, both to show in real time what a pilot would see, and to give you 720p HD footage from a 92 wide-angle lens for live streaming, or recording and sharing effortlessly on YouTube and within the AR.Drone online community. Maneuvering the quadricopter is simple: just tilt your phone/controller in the direction you want it to go, and try to avoid slamming into walls and people who look like they could beat you up. The AR.Drone's 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis magnetometer, and pressure sensor take care of flight stability, and ensure precise movement at any altitude.

The quadricopter itself is made of carbon fiber and high-resistance plastic. It comes with two removable protective hulls, one for indoor, and one for outdoor use, to ensure the drone's rotors won't be warped during tight turns around furniture and trees, or when flown by girls. A rechargeable battery is also included.

The piloting app, AR.FreeFlight 2.0, is free, and enables both video recording and still photo shots. It also tracks data, such as altitude, speed, flight duration, and location, which can be stored and shared while camping out for the first midnight showing of Top Gun 3D.
