Darth Vader Clapper
Use the Force...of the sound waves generated by slapping your palms together with the Star Wars Darth Vader Clapper. Appearing out of nowhere from 1988, this sound-activated outlet controller - perhaps the original smart home device - seems to be going the Chia route, and rolling out pop culture versions of itself to renew its relevance. And revenue.
Darth Vader appropriated as a Clapper plugs into a standard outlet just like the original Clapper, and has a second set of 2-prongs underneath his neck for connecting the lamp, TV, blender, or power saw you want to activate with a 1-2 clap. Yep, you know the drill: clap twice and the Clapper will toggle power and turn on or off the connected appliance.
21st century technological advancements have also given the Darth Vader Clapper the power of speech. He alternates saying, "The Force is strong with this one" and, "You underestimate the power of the Dark Side" every time he's called on. However, the Vader Clapper still isn't sophisticated enough to differentiate between your clap, your hacking cough, your dog's bark, and a car backfiring on your street. So your, or your Star Wars gift recipient, will still experience the joy of sudden appliance activation / deactivation when the Darth Vader Clapper is plugged in.
