Modular. It's going to take tactical to the octagon for the title of Most Profitable Buzzword. Modular cell phones, modular pens, and now a modular pocket knife. Quirky Inventor James Robinson's Swift is Swiss Army gone piecemeal.

Switch comes with 12 interchangeable attachments able to perform 16 different mixed, matched, and customizable functions. They are:

  • Blade
  • Wood saw
  • Serrated blade
  • Bottle opener/flathead screwdriver
  • Micro flathead screwdriver
  • Micro Phillips screwdriver
  • File
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Scissors
  • LED flashlight
  • Mirror/tweezer/pick/pen

Switch is made of stainless steel and, folded, measures .85" long x 1.2" wide x 3.5" high. It took Robinson, in collaboration with Quirky member feedback, over 3 years to develop the modular tool. So hopefully he'll take a break now and spend the next 3 years using his own Switch to pop tops off cold ones, cut fishing line, and sharpen sticks for spearing guinea pigs in Peru.
