How many times would you have performed your own throat endoscopy if only you'd had a smartphone-compatible snake tube camera system? I'm guessing close to a thousand. But if not, maybe there have been other times a 10-meter line with a lighted, waterproof camera at the end would have been helpful to your home repairs, construction projects, or troubleshooting efforts. Not everyone will need BlueFire's smartphone-connected endoscope, but I bet those of you who could get some use out of it will end up finding the system even handier and more versatile than you think.
The tube's business end has an IP67 waterproof 7mm camera head with 6 adjustable LED lights. Focal length is 3cm to 8 cm, and resolution 640 x 480 / 30 frames per second. The endoscope is compatible with Android only, and specifically the following phone models: Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, S5, S6; Note2, Note3, Note4; SONY Z2 L50H; SONY LT26i; and Nexus 5. BlueFire's suggested applications for their camera include:
- Intraoral camera system
- Underwater camera
- Motor vehicle detector
- Sewer pipeline detection / viewing
- Archaeological detector
- PCB detection
