STOIC Active Standing Mat
Are you STOIC enough to work standing on a plank of nails? Cook as your feet and ankles stay active atop a Redwoods forest bed? Home school while balancing on and fidgeting through Flathead River rocks? monkii's STOIC Active Standing Mat challenges you to get stronger, healthier, more engaged through all of the above with the company's intriguing new take on incorporating movement into your day.
As indicated in its video and GIF, the STOIC Active Standing Mat is a modular system whose base can accommodate several different nubby surfaces, as well as a handful of movable add-ons. They combine - in over 50 possible setups - to deliver what monkii refers to as "the 5 elements of active standing": motion; balance; fidgeting; massage; and strength.
STOIC use can benefit people of all ages who would otherwise find themselves either seated or standing in a static position for extended periods of time. With the makeshift WFH and homeschooling setups, and general push to stay inside that's taken over 2020, that's a whole fat lot of us. (Uh, no dig on potential pandemic weight gains intended.) According to monkii, regular use of the STOIC Active Standing Mat will help with the following:
- Stretch and strengthen 100+ muscles, 30 joints, and 26 bones in your feet.
- Fully engage your ankles, knees, and hips while simply standing on one of STOIC's textured surfaces.
- Posture training.
- Deep tissue foot massage.
- Caloric burn.
- Stress and anxiety reduction.
- Core and other strength training.
You can read more about how the STOIC accomplishes these physiological feats, as well as get in line for one of your own on the Active Standing Mat's Kickstarter campaign page. The STOIC mat is seeking crowdfunding through October 29, 2020.
