Are you a campaigner or a head-to-head skirmisher? An Imperial overlord or a Rebel hero? Imperial Assault places you and up to 4 friend Corneliuses in the asymmetric board game version of the Star Wars universe, where you'll fight intense and strategic battles either with or against the Empire.

In its 5-player format, one Imperial Assault player assumes the role of the entire Galactic Empire, while 1 to 4 other players act as individual heroes of the Alliance. Each new campaign has a set of missions woven together using 50+ interlocking, double-sided terrain tiles, and traversed with sculpted miniatures and tokens representing the likes of Vader, Luke, stormtroopers, and a scaled AT-AT. Play time is typically 1 to 2 hours. In Skirmish mode, players battle head-to-head in quicker rounds to complete certain objectives, or just to wipe out the opponent's entire strike team.

Star Wars: Imperial Assault debuted around this time last year, and has since risen to general acclaim amongst players and reviewers, despite its high price tag for the game category. Then again, many are calling this series the Star Wars version of Descent, the latter of which sells just as well for about the same amount, so clearly the entertainment value Fantasy Flight Games has achieved with their releases has proven worth the cost.
