Skyline Chess pits New York against New York, London against London, Paris against Paris, and in one case, New York against London in stunning boards and pieces that bring a whole new architecture to the classic strategy game.
Skyline Chess Sets feature iconic buildings and landmarks representing 7 different cities around the globe. In addition to New York, London, and Paris, you can line the squares of your board with odes to San Francisco, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Shanghai (the latter two marked as "coming soon" at printing).
The London based architectural designers behind Skyline Chess have created both chess pieces and boards in a variety of different materials. At the lower cost end are city sets with either a card or wooden board and acrylic pieces (New York here, London here). For the skyscraper-priced editions you'll get hand-cast solid bronze pieces, made using "a lost-wax casting technique that dates back over 6,000 years is used by a foundry run by a small family business in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham." Luxury boards are Corian with hand screen-printed city maps covering their top surfaces.
