What is the World's Toughest Mudder? Think of it like this: there's network TV, and then there's HBO. There's a burger, and then there's a double bacon cheeseburger. There's "'Till the World Ends" Britney, and then there's "Oops I Did It Again" Britney.
Regular Tough Mudder events are 10- to 12-mile obstacle courses designed to test participants' strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. The tactical, yet sadistic brainchildren of British Special Forces, Tough Mudders are not meant for weak, lazy, Cabernet-sipping sissy men who read books on how to communicate, and use their girlfriends' lavender-scented conditioner. Tough Mudders are not for fragile, timid, unathletic prissy girls who won't lift more than a 5-pound dumbbell, do 20 minutes at Level 3 on the elliptical and call it cardio, and add the letter "y" to the ends of words like "drink," "sick," and "kiss". Tough Mudders are for hardcore competitors and loyal teammates as intent on pushing and pulling one another through obstacles embedded in mud, water, snow, and fire, as they are on obliterating the other teams at battle to do the same.
Individual Tough Mudder events held worldwide throughout the year are demanding, gut-wrenching, and as physically glorious as they are tortuous. But they're all just warmups.
