Vibram Unisex Furoshiki Wrap Sneakers
Vibram, your Furoshiki wrap sneakers have floored me. See, I thought I'd pretty much covered all the wackiest (and also most visually assaulting) athletic / comfort shoes you can buy with discussions of Crosskix, KEEN UNEEK Sandals, and Teva Ember Moc Slippers. But these unisex
monstrosities standouts might be the cee-raziest sneaks I've seen yet.
Vibram created their Furoshiki sole, which also appears in a line of mid- and high-wrap shoes and boots, as an equal parts minimalist and functional design. Since Furoshikis wrap around the entire foot to secure, they have an adjustable, custom fit for every foot that wears them. And when the shoes are off, they wrap into themselves, condensing down to little sneaker balls for easy packing.
Vibram Furoshiki Murble Sneaker
Vibram took inspiration for their Furoshiki concept from Japanese gift wrapping techniques. The "free-form footwear" is made to provide as much protection, grip, and comfort as it is "WTF is on your feet?!" reactions from friends, family, and the dudes who start to ask if you want a shoeshine.
The Murble pattern shown here is the most attractive (i.e., least obnoxious) of the Furoshiki options. In my opinion. Mostly black, with some splotches of gray, I guess if it was the best-fitting shoe I ever put on my foot, I would get used to looking like a cross between a ballerina and a car tire while wearing it.
Vibram Furoshiki Shipibo Sneaker
Furoshiki uppers are made of stretch fabric to conform to whatever shape, oddities, or conditions your feet have. They hold shut with a hook and loop closure system. You can even machine wash these sneakers on cold (don't put them in the dryer though.)
The Shipibo pattern shown here is very...festive, and...probably not good for people prone to seizures.
Vibram Furoshiki Sneaker Low-Rise Collection
Here are some of the rest of the Furoshiki color options for the low-rise athletic shoes. The listing contains about a dozen different choices, all unisex.
